Words of encouragement for 2025

Dec27

Galatians 6:7–10 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

The life of each follower of Jesus Christ is filled with challenges and benefits. We want to be faithful and fruitful, but the fear of falling short can overshadow us like a dark cloud. Thankfully, the light of truth can drive the dark away. Hopefully, the promises of the Scriptures cited above will help us press into 2025 with heightened anticipation of God’s faithful help.

Verses 7-8 have application to walking in the flesh, but it also has application to walking in the Spirit. Living to gratify the flesh produces corruption. Living to glorify the Lord produces the fruit of eternal life in our present lives. We need to pray for God’s grace to empower us to plant the seeds of truth and righteousness with the assurance that God will produce the fruit of truth and righteousness in and through us.

Verse 9-10 speak honestly about how the effort to do good, godly, and selfless things can become difficult and tiresome. We overcome exhaustion and difficulty by looking forward to the promise of an abundant harvest. Every sweaty farmer and gardener cultivating in the spring knows this to be true. However, the promise of God for this harvest is not “maybe so” or “possibly so.” We will reap good and godly produce if we live consistently Christ-centered and others-oriented. We are to show care and concern for unbelievers, but we are to show particular care and concern for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ – the local church, which is the household of faith.

As you head into 2025, remember that God promises to bless His people. You can count on the promises of God. Challenges will come, but don’t throw up your hands. Stay faithful, and you will be fruitful.

For those who hear and obey our Lord, 2025 promises to be a banner year!
