PoNDebBlack“Life is hard! Hardships, disappointments, and loss are things that we all experience in our lives. My family is going through several difficulties right now that we have never been through before. It’s in these times that my heart cries out to God for hope. I desperately need His perspective that not only gives me the ability to endure, but to grow in the midst of pain.

Looking back, I haven’t always believed there was a God and I definitely didn’t follow the Jesus of the Bible. As a young adult, I experienced God’s life transforming grace and it was then that I was able to see Jesus’ incredible faithfulness and the hope that is found through His words in theBible.

What amazing promises we are given for difficulties and trials through Jesus’ words in the book of John 16:33: “ I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” And, through the writer of the book of Hebrews 4:16: “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Jesus has overcome this world, is with us through our trials, and grants us His grace and mercy when we are in need. That is amazing!

That He is faithful to not only show us Himself through the reading of His Word, but through personal ways, is remarkable to me. I’m really grateful that He continues to do this practically in my life through the love and concern of godly people. It’s an awesome assurance that He cares for me and is a clear example of how dependable He is.

Growing up I experienced loneliness, deep loss, and feelings of distance and abandonment. I was emotionally hurt by the people around me and didn’t trust most people. After Jesus changed my life, I finally understood what assurance was, what it really looked like, and was able to experience it first hand.

His faithfulness in my need continues to be evidenced by providing me a godly husband, my beautiful children, and some gracious long time friends that consistently speak words of love and counsel in my life.

I can see how gracious He has been and will continue to be. How precious are the words of life given to us through God’s people who genuinely love and are there for us through thick and thin. What a joy we can experience in the craziness of life as He graciously meets us where we are!”
