Ruben and Debbie Ibanez, with their two children, are currently enjoying Jesus in missions in Mexico with the hope of planting churches among the Mixteco people in Oaxaca. Ruben completed training with To Every Tribe’s Center for Pioneer Church Planting in August 2009 followed by language training in Guadalajara. In September 2010 they arrived in Juxtlahuaca, Oaxaca, Mexico with a team from To Every Tribe. Oaxaca is one of Mexico’s largest and poorest states and has a high concentration of indigenous people. Juxtlahuaca is a small town in the Sierra Mountains and is surrounded by remote villages where many Mixteco people live. The people far south in Oaxaca claim Catholicism but have strong pagan, animistic beliefs. They are truly unreached peoples, concerning the Gospel of Our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the villages surrounding Juxtlahuaca, the people are very poor and isolated. Many are illiterate and do not speak Spanish, but their tribal language. The Lord has made a pathway for the team to live in one of the most remote and poorest villages. The people are beset with poverty, fear, and religious tradition. There are many needs; the team’s desire is to bring the message of the only and greatest “solution”; eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.
We appreciate your prayers and support in this joyous work.
