Isn’t He Amazing! – June 17, 2016

1 John 3:1-3 (ESV):

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”

Father’s Day is an opportunity to affirm the devotion and care dads have for their families. Children young and old can honor the sacrifices made and the time invested so that their dad can be a loving provider and protector. Praise God for good dads all over the world.

All children of the Most High God, by faith in the gospel work of Jesus Christ, have the opportunity to honor their Father in heaven this Father’s Day. When John asks his readers to “See what kind of love the Father has given to us…” he is asking them to thoughtfully reflect on the incredible love of God. God chooses to call sinners to Himself and instead of giving them the condemnation they all deserve, He grants them cleansing and forgiveness through the work of Jesus and calls them His children.

God graciously opens the eyes of our heart so that we can appreciate and desire Him as the only loving God. We are so overcome by the significance of His loving mercy we now respond with loving affection and surrender. His care is unmatched and His resources are eternally undiminished. We will thrive in His benevolent care for all eternity. We are God’s children now, but the best of His care for us is yet to come. We never have to fear His failure or anticipate His departure. He is the eternal Father and we are eternally His children abiding in His eternal love.

Don’t forget to honor your Heavenly Father this Father’s Day. Isn’t He amazing!
